Description
Reporting to the Project Control Director, the Project Analyst supports project planning, monitoring, analysis, and reporting activities. The incumbent collaborates with project managers to integrate scope, schedule, cost, and performance indicators into a coherent framework while ensuring data quality, risk tracking, and clear reporting for stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
Project Planning & Setup
- Support the development of comprehensive project plans, including schedules, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with project managers to align scope, schedule, and cost into an integrated performance framework.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor baseline budgets and ongoing financial forecasts.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, validate, and analyze project data, including labour hours, schedules, risks, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor project performance by comparing actual results against planned targets; identify variances and proactively escalate issues.
- Maintain and enhance project dashboards, including earned value metrics and productivity indicators.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit standards, and contractual requirements.
- Prepare clear and concise project reports, presentations, and status updates for stakeholders.
- Support periodic project performance reviews and governance activities.
Risk & Change Management
- Identify potential cost, schedule, and operational risks; assess their impact and track mitigation strategies.
- Analyze change requests to determine implications on budget, schedule, and scope.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for changes, assumptions, and decision-making processes.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or background in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in project coordination, project analysis, or a similar role.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
- Strong data analysis capabilities, including advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, formulas, and dashboards.
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is considered an asset.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) is an asset.

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Strong analytical thinking with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to translate quantitative data into actionable insights for decision-making.

- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
- Skilled at presenting data, insights, and recommendations in a clear and professional manner to diverse audiences.
Organizational Skills:
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Effective documentation and record-keeping practices.
