Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Civil engineering, structural, and architecture lead will be responsible for:
Main Responsibilities
Corporate
- Ensure the company establishes and applies best engineering practices in its normal business operations ;
- Participate in the evolution and development of internal tools or the deployment of external tools to optimize productivity and efficiency, ensuring the company remains competitive with its peers ;
- Promote professional development and a corporate culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and productivity ;
- Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment, training, and employee evaluations;
- Establish and monitor budgets for departmental projects.
Engineering and Projects
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise civil engineering activities (earthworks and concrete), structure, and architecture;
- Ensure project compliance with technical standards, local regulations, and contractual requirements;
- Review and approve plans, drawings, and technical specifications;
- Lead, mentor, and motivate engineering and project teams;
- Foster effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration ;
- Collaborate with related departments (e.g., mechanical, electrical, piping) to ensure integration of technical solutions;
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and subcontractors, ensuring regular communication and satisfaction;
- Participate in coordination meetings with clients, partners, and subcontractors;
- Implement quality control processes to guarantee accuracy and reliability of technical deliverables;
- Ensure deadlines are met while optimizing available resources;
- Identify innovative solutions to improve work methods and optimize costs;
- Prepare and present progress reports, technical proposals, and strategic recommendations;
- Ensure the department complies with legal and contractual obligations.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- University degree (Bachelor’s) in civil engineering or any other relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in the mining or energy industry.
- Must be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Fluency in French and English, spoken and written.
- Knowledge of another language, especially Spanish, is an asset.
Interpersonal and Personal Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and critical mindset.
- Good organizational skills.
- Autonomy, initiative, and effective priority management.
- Collaborative attitude and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly.
